    PRACTICE LEAGUE - WEEK 8

    Tuesday, February 26, 2008, 07:06 PM [General]

Well, practice league is almost over.  I haven't gotten nearly enough practice in.  This week was a little difficult for me.  I got a new ball - the Twisted Fury.  It was difficult figuring out where exactly I needed to lay the ball down.  It also didn't help that I hadn't been bowling for two weeks.  So, by the third game I had spaghetti arms.  I couldn't come through the ball right.  I was tired and lazy with my shots.  So, I bowled 115, 163, and 117.  Not a great nite at all.  I've got work to do.  I want 200 before league ends and I only have two more weeks.

    WOOD vs. SYNTHETIC

    Sunday, February 24, 2008, 10:53 PM [General]

I'm helping a high school student who is writing a paper on wood vs. synthetic.  He needs some additional viewpoints.  So, which do you prefer and why?

I like wood.  I guess I'm just old fashioned and traditional.  I also like how it plays differently from lane to lane.  Each lane develops "character" with age and wear.  That's my take on it.  What's yours?

    Practice League - Week 6

    Monday, February 11, 2008, 11:25 PM [General]

Tonight was a decent night.  By someone else's standards, it would be considered mediocre.  However, for me, it was okay.  Not great, but okay. I can at least say I bowled over my measly 130 average all night. I started the night with a 161.  WOW!  Not bad.  I never start off that high.  Then I struck out in the 10th frame of the second game for a 139.  Okay, so the first two were Brooklyns, but the last one was solid.  You know, the kind that comes off your hand so good that you start sounding like Steve Urkel -  "Did I do that?".  Anyway, last game was hit or miss, but I finished with 138.  I'm still setting my sights on that 200 game.  It could happen.

I want to congratulate some youth bowlers that really make the sport look easy.  Sam Peterlin bowled his first 300 a week ago.  Great job, Sam.  Joshua Thompson gave Indiana bowlers a run for their money in the IYSBT tournament.  He averaged an even 200, shooting 1200 for 6 games.  He missed the cut by 5 pins.   Awesome, Josh.  You'll get it next time.  Veneza Perez performed like a champ at IHSA Girls State Finals in Rockford.  Way to Go, Veneza.  Kellie Wiedman brought home her first IYSBT win.  I guess she decided to end her youth bowling career at the top.  I ain't mad at you.  You Go Girl! I'm so proud of all of you.  Keep up the good work.  Everybody watch for these rising stars.  The future of bowling is solid.  These youth bowlers are the cream of the crop.

GO WOLFPACK!  Congratulations to the St. Ignatius Wolfpack bowling team on a third year qualifying for the IHSA State finals.  Great job bowlers and coaches.  I wish you all the best next week.  I know you'll do well.

     Love you,

    Practice League Week 2

    Wednesday, January 16, 2008, 06:02 PM [General]

I just finished week 2 of practice league.  It was just slightly better than the first week.  I didn't mention my goals the first time.  I want to average 150 and shoot at least  one 200.  (Pretty simple, huh?)  Anyway, I came into this week with a 137 average.  I bowled 142, 137, and 159.  I've still got lots of work to do.
